Class Name: Fun with Leather Crafting - Make Something Beautiful!
Class Description
You will have time to make up to 5 to 7 projects (or more) depending on size and complexity. Choices for your projects can be from the following: Make a leather shoulder bag or two, learn how to use a wood burning tool to inscribe a design onto the leather and then colorize it, depending on time make a small backpack, a couple of leather belts, passport wallet, journal, belt pouch for your phone, a Scottish Sporran, lady’s wallet, clutch purse, a braided strap, bracelets and other accessories, messenger bag, and more. All leathers, materials, tools, and instructions are provided, along with templates. If you have an idea for a leather project you can bring it and can make it real. As time allows you can learn how to make tassels and fringe to add to your projects. No artistic ability is necessary, nor is any previous leather working experience. You do not need to bring anything except your enthusiasm, and your desire to make something beautiful!

Tom Slavicek
Tom grew up in upstate New York where he joined the Boy Scouts of America and earned his Leatherworking Merit badge. He earned his Eagle Scout Award and was accepted to the University of South Florida where he received his degree in Communications. Tom served as a professional in the Boy Scouts for 37 years in 14 different postings throughout the United States and West Germany. He retired in 2011. He, and his wife, Karen, moved to Dahlonega, Ga. where they became involved in their church and community. Tom became a Deacon in their church, started a home-based leather crafting business, helped to establish a ministry for the homeless in Lumpkin County - Jeremiah's Place (serving as its first director), and joined Chestatee Artists (Dahlonega’s artists’ guild). Today Tom teaches an average of 35 classes each year plus 4 week-long classes. Over 1,500 students have so far taken his leather course since 2012.
