Fused Chain/ Loop and Loop
In this class we will work with Fine, Argentium and Sterling Silver to make the links. You will learn to coil, cut, and fuse. You will then stretch, forge and weave into patterns. We will work on the first 2 chains together. I have several patterns to choose from for the other chains.
I will supply butane and propane torches as well as fuel. I will also have a toolbox with all the hand tools you will need. If you want to bring your own tools, feel free. Make sure they are clearly marked.
Besides fuel, other little tools, solder board and a book with the chain instructions are part of the $50.00 Lab fee. You will pay for the chain kits that you use. Most finish 5 chains spending about $250. Silver cost could change depending on the market.
You will need magnification of some kind. You must bring your own.
Lab Fee: $50
Estimated Materials Cost: $100 and up depending on kits selected and materials used
Nancy Brickner - Fused Chain- Loop n Loop
Nancy Brickner has been designing and creating jewelry for over 20 years. She started when her daughters were finishing high school and she had time to pursue her interests. Her parents shared their love of art, stones, minerals and creating jewelry with her. They also shared their love of William Holland School with her where she learned to be a silversmith, wire wrapping, basket weaving and chain making. She began teaching at William Holland about 10 years ago and taught chaining with her dad at the Bead and Button Show in Milwaukee. She has done many weekend workshops for the Midwest Metal smiths and other organizations over the years.
Nancy is a juried member of Best of Missouri Hands; long-time member of the Midwest Metalsmiths. She has also served on the boards of both organizations. Juried into many shows over the years she has shown her wire wrap, silversmith pieces and chains. Nancy was a demonstrating artist at Silver Dollar City during their Fall Harvest Festival for over 15 years.
Nancy loves to teach and share what she has learned from so many gracious teachers and always learns something new with every class.
