Ruth Prince

Instructor for Enameling Class

at Wildacres August

Ruth Prince worked as a computer programmer at Oak Ridge, but art was always what she really wanted to do. She left her job and went back to art school at the University of Tennessee. As electives she took classes in silver working and enameling and fell in love with enameling because of the beautiful colors they produced. Her studies were interrupted for a few years while her daughters were young and during that time her art work revolved around children’s crafts but she finally was able to finish her BFA in painting. She found her way back to enameling and metal work when she started making jewelry, because that was easier to sell than paintings! Now years later, she is happy making jewelry and teaching metal working, metal clay, glass fusing and enamels in the Oak Ridge, Knoxville area.
