Silver II

with Dale Koebnick

Class Description

Fusing with silver, Keum-boo gold and mixed metals

I love this class!  Fusing is all about heat control, heat control and heat control!  The metal techniques learned in this class include fusing silver on silver, diffusion bonding gold on fine silver (Keum-boo technique), and fusing copper and/or brass on silver (tri-metal fusing).

You will use sterling and fine silver sheet, scrap and 23.5k Keum-boo gold to create fused sheets and panels to be made into jewelry and jewelry components. You may be making a specific piece or fusing sheet to cut for several pieces. You will be using a rolling mill, texturing and dapping tools, and a butane torch. Your end results will include a bold one-of-a-kind panel bracelet with a unique clasp, earrings, pendants and a ring.

Lab fee covers printed materials, all consumables such as solder and butane fuel, and use of instructors tools. Materials cost is for sterling and fine silver, gold, copper, brass, jewelry components, and other embellishments that may be used in the projects. Feel free to contact Dale at dkoebnick@hot.rr.com for questions.
